The Gospel

What is the Gospel?  That term is used a lot, but some don’t know what it really means.  If that is you, keep reading…

Gospel simply means Good News.  We have all done wrong—against God and against each other (Romans 3:23).  We often try to hide it like Adam and Eve did in Genesis because we fear judgment.  We don’t want God, or others even, to know what is true about us.  The good news is that God has provided Jesus Christ to free us from our sin and to be our righteousness (Romans 3:21-22).   When we confess to God that we are sinners and accept His forgiveness, He is faithful to forgive us (1 John 1:9).  The really good-news part of the Good News is that Jesus didn’t just die, but He rose from the grave.  This demonstrated His victory over sin and death.  And the perfect life that He lived on Earth He gives to us.  He also gives us His Holy Spirit, to teach us, convict us, guide us, and even pray for us (that is on our behalf).  When we come to Him in faith, believing that He has done all this, He does it.  But you have one thing to do…start the relationship.

Pray to Him.  Confess to Him that you are a sinner in need of His salvation.  Thank Him for the great sacrifice that He made.  Praise Him for the new person that you just became (2 Corinthians 5:17).  Now seek His guidance in His Word (I recommend starting in Matthew).  Find a church that you like, so you can surround yourself with Christians to support you in your new walk.

That is it…Good News!

This is the simple version.  It may create as many questions as it answers—and that’s okay.  If you want to talk, email (rpvicars@gmail.com), text etc. leave me a comment below and I’ll be more than happy to assist.  You are precious to God…
